The 11th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Kherson” has already become a legend. Its service members defended the Kyiv and Kherson regions, participated in the liberation of Snake Island, and carried out heroic flights to the besieged Azovstal steel plant.
As part of the “Own Stamp” project, Ukrposhta prepared a commemorative postal set dedicated to the “Kherson” Brigade, and the solemn special postmarking ceremony was held at the War Museum.
During the event, Museum researcher Iryna Kotsabiuk moderated a discussion with four Defenders of the Sky who represented the brigade at the ceremony. Sharing their stories, combat experiences, and service insights were:
-
Colonel Yevhen Soloviov, Senior Inspector-Pilot of the Main Directorate for Aviation Capability Development of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine;
-
Lieutenant Colonel Kyrylo Shmeliov, military pilot and Deputy Commander of the 11th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Kherson” of the Ukrainian Ground Forces;
-
Major Ivan Pepeliashko, military pilot and Deputy Squadron Commander for Psychological Personnel Support of the 11th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Kherson” of the Ukrainian Ground Forces;
-
Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Honchar, Inspector of the Main Directorate for Aviation Capability Development of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Saving dozens of lives, intercepting drones on their approach to peaceful cities, landing a burning aircraft, training hundreds of pilots, maintaining dozens of aircraft, and executing countless dangerous combat sorties—this is the reality of life for the warriors of the 11th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Kherson.”
Major Ivan Pepeliashko presented the Director General of the War Museum, Yurii Savchuk, with the brigade’s flag and chevron, which will take a place of honor in our museum collection.
The heroes jointly stamped the postcards and envelopes and later signed autographs for philatelic collectors.
The culmination of this warm and emotional event was a raffle of commemorative gifts from Ukrposhta among the participants. It is a great honor for the War Museum to serve as a space where the heroic deeds and personal stories of modern Defenders are preserved.
