the Day of Remembrance for Children Killed as a Result of the Armed Aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine

Commemorative Events / 11 June 2025

On the Day of Remembrance for Children Killed as a Result of the Armed Aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine, a commemorative event took place in the space of the Museum’s multimedia project — Martyrology "Children…" — with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, First Lady Olena Zelenska, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative to Ukraine, Munir Mammadzade, foreign diplomats, and parents who lost their children due to terrorist attacks by the russian federation.

The Presidential couple, along with other participants and guests, laid toys on the symbolic altar in the Martyrology space to honor the memory of each of the youngest victims of the aggressor.

The Director General of the War Museum, Yurii Savchuk, gave a tour of the Museum’s exhibitions to the parents attending the event – Iryna Dmytriieva and Maksym Kulyk.

Iryna is the mother of four-year-old Liza, whose life was cut short by an enemy missile in July 2022 in Vinnytsia. In November 2024, Maksym lost his three children – ten-year-old Kyrylo, two-year-old Demyd, and two-month-old Ulyana – as well as his beloved wife, Olena, during another russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih.

During his conversation with Iryna and Maksym, the Museum Director spoke about the Museum’s projects dedicated to the russian-Ukrainian war and emphasized that preserving the memory of Ukrainian children is one of the institution’s top priorities.

We remember every name and carry every small life in our hearts.
