In the summer of 1919, amid fighting between Ukrainian and Polish forces in Galicia, the Ukrainian Galician Army launched one of its most successful military operations: the Chortkiv Offensive. This battle became a powerful example of strategic skill, courage, and the Ukrainian army’s high morale in its struggle for statehood.
During the session, participants will:
- see artifacts from the period of the West Ukrainian People’s Republic;
- discuss the circumstances of the Ukrainian struggle for independence;
- learn about the background, course, and consequences of the Chortkiv Offensive;
- reconstruct the events of the “Miracle near Chortkiv” in June 1919 through participants’ memoirs and historical maps.
