Who was behind the drafting and adoption of the Universals of the Ukrainian Central Rada? What ideas and aspirations motivated Mykhailo Hrushevsky, Volodymyr Vynnychenko, and other creators of our statehood? How did they overcome the thorny path at the beginning of the Ukrainian Revolution – from dreams of autonomy to the declaration of independence of the Ukrainian People’s Republic?
At the workshop, we will not only delve into the history of Ukrainian state-building, but also try to look at the events through the eyes of their participants. We will understand the motives, discussions and compromises that determined the fate of the Universals, and understand how individuals influence the course of history. All this is to happen in the atmospheric space of the exhibition ‘Sign on the Shield’.
And of course, you will create your own «Fifth Universal» – with your own vision of the future of Ukraine, inspired by the ideas of those figures. Participants will also be asked to solve a thematic crossword dedicated to the key figures of that time and their political views.
