Meeting with Petro Skydan

Events / 21 October 2025

On August 28, 2025, the War Museum hosted a meeting with Petro Skydan (callsign “Lypen” (July)), a senior sergeant, veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and paramedic of the evacuation unit of the medical company, 101st Brigade for the Protection of the General Staff named after Colonel-General Henadii Vorobiov. The discussion was moderated by Serhii Siryi, a researcher at the Museum.

Oleh Kucheriavyi, Deputy Director General of the Museum, welcomed the soldier and emphasized the valor of the Ukrainian defenders who selflessly stand in defense of our state.

In 2021, “Lypen” enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine under contract service, having repeatedly heard from fellow soldiers about the acute shortage of combat medics at the front. Before the full-scale invasion, he served in the Donetsk region, in the Bakhmut district near the settlements of Toretsk and New York. From the outset of Russia’s full-scale aggression, he served on the frontlines in Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.

For his diligent service, Petro Skydan has been awarded the Badge “Combatant,” the Distinction of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Badge “For Preserved Life.”

During his visit, the defender donated personal belongings to the Museum’s collection: the chest badge “Lypen,” the sleeve patch “Medic,” a flashlight, a knife, first-aid supplies, and an individual medical kit.

We thank Petro Skydan for sharing the story of his combat path. His testimony will remain a lasting legacy for future generations.
