For the first time, the Museum held an online tour in a foreign language. The location was the exhibition “Memory. Interchange”. This project, which raises the issue of historical memory between nations and generations, was implemented by our institution together with the Museum Berlin-Karlshorst with the support of the Embassy of Germany in Ukraine.
The tour took on a truly international format. Joining the discussion with the Museum’s guide Alla Hrushetska was the German artist Eva Neidlinger, whose family story became one of the key components of the project. She joined the conversation with her relatives and shared how her research into the history of her grandfather – a Wehrmacht serviceman in German-occupied Ukraine – became a step toward creating the exhibition.
Also participating in the discussion were the German historian Johannes Spohr and Gundega Korsts, a U.S. resident of Latvian descent who lived through the Second World War. The participants debated the topic of family memory about past events, as well as the relevance of Second World War issues in the context of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war.
We are sincerely grateful to Eva for her cooperation and to all the guests for their interest and attention to the Museum’s work.
