Workshop ‘Second Winter Campaign – A Raid into the Unknown’

Excursions and interactive events / 25 October 2026

1921. The Ukrainian People’s Republic (UPR) Army had suffered defeat in conventional warfare, but the struggle for Ukraine’s independence continued. The military and political leadership decided to take one final step: a guerrilla raid deep into Ukraine to spark a nationwide anti-Bolshevik uprising.

At the workshop, held in the ‘Sign on the Shield’ exhibition space, we will discuss the preparations for the campaign, how it unfolded, its participants and its consequences. Using maps, we will trace the routes taken by the insurgent groups and reconstruct the events of the November Raid, one of the UPR Army’s final attempts to return to Ukraine.
